Formed over 35 years ago to preserve Peru’s African heritage, Perú Negro has performed all over the world and been appointed “Cultural Ambassadors of Peruvian Culture.” Perú Negro’s high-energy show is made up of festive and celebratory dances interwoven with vibrant live music, recreating the folkloric history of their ancestors. Perú Negro’s second US-released album, Jolgorio, received a Grammy nomination for Best Traditional World Music Album and a Latin Grammy nomination.
